Anti-money laundering news 02/01/2008 Manx money laundering training conference to open 2009
The Manx Financial Supervision Commission (FSC) will open 2009 with a money laundering training conference, underlining the importance laid by the Isle of Mans government upon this form of criminal activity.
The conference, to be held on the 20th January, will demonstrate how the islands laws can allow money laundering reporting officers (MLROs) to trace the movement of the proceeds of crime, and undertake counter terrorist finance measures.
Paul Heckles, head of enforcement at the FSC, said, The Commission is keen to work with the industry in ensuring that the Islands high standards are maintained and assist in promoting awareness in the area of anti-money laundering and identifying financial frauds. The conference provides an excellent opportunity for licence holders on the Island to hear first hand from leading specialists about the latest international fraud and anti-money laundering developments.
Director of ML Solutions 4U, Bill Jones, comments, The promotion of money laundering training to Manx professionals through this conference is laudable. The relevant legislation in the Isle of Man may differ from that of the UK, but both countries MLROs face similar challenges. It is through high-quality, accredited training that Regulated professionals can best meet those challenges. News « Proceeds of crime news - Money laundering training conference on Isle of Man
