Money laundering news 05/11/2008 Devon police raid leads to money laundering charges for 66-year-old
Following a police raid, a Devon man has been arrested on suspicion of offences relating to drugs and money laundering, reports the Exmouth Journal.
The 66-year-old was found to be in possession of cigarettes worth more than £100,000, believed to be contraband, alongside four kilograms of cannabis in resin and leaf form, generic Viagra tablets worth £5,000 and over £8,000 in cash.
The haul is understood to be one of the largest seizures of suspected criminal property and the proceeds of crime in the county. A spokesperson for the police force hailed it as a success, saying, This will help to combat anti-social behaviour and against drug use which can lead to burglaries.
The Exmouth resident faces charges of possession with intent to supply and money laundering, and has been released on police bail until next January. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a second man. News « Money laundering charges follow Devon police raid
