Money laundering law news 18/08/09 Actress and friend arrested in drugs and money laundering raid

It has been widely reported this week that Footballers Wives actress Holly McGuire has been arrested on criminal charges, including money laundering and drug-related offences.

The woman, 31, was taken into custody alongside her friend Steven Brace when police raided the Essex house they were sharing. The investigation is reported to have found 3 kilograms of cocaine in a wardrobe, 56 cannabis plants in the garage, and evidence of a diverted mains electricity supply to power ultra-violet lamps in the garage.

A cash sum of £120,000 was found in the boot of a Bentley car at the property, which is suspected of being proceeds of crime under UK anti-money laundering law.

McGuire was freed on bail under conditions of curfew, and was ordered to stay at an address within Grays, Essex. Both suspects are to face charges on 28th August of conspiracy to supply cocaine, cultivating cannabis, illegally abstracting electricity and money laundering.
